Sheridan Lake

If you read yesterday's blog already, I changed it. I was asleep when I wrote that. It was lame. Even if you don't like it, it's better than it was.

Sheridan Lake Bed and Breakfast to Sheridan Lake Bed and Breakfast: 198.9 km
Cumulative distance: 1079 km
Maximum speed: 122 kph
Moving average: 75 kph
Overall average: 50 kph
Moving time: 2:39
Total time: 3:56
Temperature range 27.6 - 35.0 C (keep in mind this is only while we are on the bike and it is moving)

There is a little access-way from the main house to our room, which is a "dumb waiter" of sorts. It is just big enough to pass a tray through and from our perspective, it works a little like a replicator. You just open the door and a tray of food appears. Vance, Deborah's husband, explained to me later in the day that it was their way of allowing their guests a degree of privacy. It won't be necessary for guests to shave, wash or even dress for breakfast. You can see from the picture that Deborah was expecting Eritrea for breakfast.

We have a leisurely morning, taking our time with breakfast out on the lanai. The occasional boat goes by; some are fishing, others are wake boarding and there is the occasional skier.

It's a warm one and Nan thinks we should hang at the B&B, sitting on the dock and swimming. I think we should explore. I want to find Mahood Falls. I win. Not by graciously describing the wonderful scenery or how much fun it will be for the two of us to spend a few hours exploring together, just simple, brute force.

Ten minutes into it, we're lost. Well, not as in "lost with no resources to find our way out of this mess" lost, we just don't know where we are or where we are going. And we are on gravel. I can feel Nan's eyes burning two, neat, tiny holes in the back of my head and I am pretty sure it is not because of Mr. Saturday. We stop and I ask her to get off the bike so that I can cross reference the GPS with Google Maps on my phone. Seems simple enough but no, that isn't helping. At least we are in the shade of a big tree. And it's hot.

Trying to figure out the route.

We decide to just ride and stick to pavement and see where it takes us, which ends up being through 100 Mile House and up to Camin Lake. It is a pretty drive but the heat is intense. Soon, we are driving along the lake and looking for a place where we can pull over and drive the bike straight into the lake, or at least, go for a swim. This is the spot:

We had the foresight to wear our bathing suits under our bike gear so it is just a matter of plunging into the water. And, we're done and on the road back to Sheridan Lake. Little did we realize but we were about 5 km from Mahood Falls.
